HBO has joined the development of a limited series adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, with Sarah Snook attached to star as a new character, Myra Massey. The project reunites Snook with HBO after Succession, according to Bloody Disgusting.[2]
Tom Spezialy, an executive producer of The Leftovers and Watchmen, is attached to write the pilot. The story is set in Alaska and follows traveling magistrate Myra as a murder investigation unfolds alongside a wave of bird attacks.[2]
Universal International Studios and Heyday Television are behind the project, which was taken to potential buyers earlier this year. Snook, Spezialy, Graham Heyman and Danny Samit are executive producers, according to Bloody Disgusting.[2] Fangoria describes the project as a present-day reimagining of Hitchcock’s film.[1]
