Takashi Yamazaki puts another Godzilla film at 50-50

Takashi Yamazaki says the chance of making another Godzilla film is about even, though he is satisfied with Godzilla Minus Zero’s ending.

Director Takashi Yamazaki said the chances of making a third film in the Godzilla Minus series are “about fifty-fifty,” according to ComingSoon.net. He said he is happy with Godzilla Minus Zero’s ending, which leaves its interpretation to viewers, but would feel sad if it were his last Godzilla film.[2]

Godzilla Minus Zero opened in Japanese theaters on November 3, 2026, and is scheduled for a wide North American theatrical release on November 6, according to ComingSoon.net. The film is a direct sequel to 2023’s Godzilla Minus One, with Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe reprising their roles as Koichi Shikishima and Noriko Oishi.[2]

Yamazaki has other films lined up before any possible return to Godzilla, including Grandgear and Nue, according to ComingSoon.net. Collider reported that after Godzilla Minus One won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects, Yamazaki turned down other projects because he wanted to make Godzilla Minus Zero first.[1][2]
