Ron Perlman has confirmed he is still willing to reprise his role as Hellboy for a potential third film, but only if Guillermo del Toro returns as director[1][2]. Perlman explained in a recent interview that the original Hellboy movies were intended as a trilogy, and he remains committed to finishing the story they began together[1][2].
Perlman, who is now 76, stated that even if a third movie does not happen until he is 86, he would still be up for the role as long as del Toro is involved[2]. The second film, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, ended with unresolved plot elements including Liz Sherman’s pregnancy, which Perlman says would have been addressed in the third movie[1][2]. When asked about recent discussions with del Toro, Perlman replied "no comment"[2].
Hellboy’s live-action future remains uncertain, with other adaptations released in 2019 and 2024 not featuring Perlman[1]. According to Dread Central, Perlman is not interested in any version of Hellboy apart from a trilogy completed with del Toro[2].
