Godzilla Minus Zero, directed by Takashi Yamazaki, will have its IMAX premiere on November 3, three days before its wider North American release on November 6[1][2]. This early showing in select U.S. IMAX theaters coincides with Godzilla Day, which marks the anniversary of the original 1954 film[2]. Tickets for both IMAX and standard format screenings are now on sale[1][2].
This movie is the first Japanese production filmed specifically for IMAX using certified high-definition cameras and tailored sound and imagery[1][2]. According to Bloody Disgusting, Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe reprise their roles, with new cast additions joining them, and the story is set in 1949, running for 135 minutes[1][2]. The film received an R rating for violent content and bloody images, making it the first in the franchise to do so[2].
