David Bruckner has reportedly been tapped to direct Smile 3 for Paramount Pictures, taking over from franchise creator Parker Finn.[1][2] The report originated with scooper Daniel Richtman, and Dread Central says it independently verified the information.[1][2] Paramount has not officially announced Bruckner’s involvement, so the reported appointment remains unconfirmed.[1][2]
Finn wrote and directed Smile and Smile 2, and is directing a remake of Possession for Paramount.[1][2] Dread Central reported in March that a third Smile film was in development and Finn was unlikely to direct it.[1][2] Bruckner’s credits include The Night House, Hellraiser, The Ritual and segments of V/H/S and Southbound.[1][2]
Smile 2, starring Naomi Scott as pop star Skye Riley, was released on October 18, 2024, according to iHorror.[1] Paramount has not set a release date for Smile 3, according to iHorror.[1]
